Spirit of Life, fill me with gladness and joy to celebrate Jesus the Lord who is alive today and invites me into relationship and collaborative mission.
Option 1:
Scripture: Matthew 28:1-10
Reflection: Think of someone you love dearly that you have not seen in a long time. Daydream about a reunion. Then enter this biblical scene with all your senses. Notice Jesus’s appearance to the women (vv. 9-10). What is everyone feeling? Where are you in the story?
Option 2:
Reflection: Watch the reunion of a father with his small son whom he believed died in a bombing. How might this scene be similar to the reaction of friends and family to Jesus’s unexpected resurrection? (video; 6 min)
Option 3:
Ponder the “Contemplation of Jesus’s Appearance to His Mother”[1]
Option 4:
Activity: Throw a Resurrection Party! Celebrate. Ask people to share where they have seen and experienced resurrection in their life.
Option 5:
Scripture: John 20:1-18
Reflection: Enter the scene with all your senses. What do you notice about the reunion between Jesus and Mary Magdalene?
Option 6:
Repetition of one of the options this week.
Reviewing the Week:
Look back on the past week. What stands out to you the most as you have shifted from grieving the loss of Jesus to rejoicing in his astounding reappearance? Talk with God about your reflections.

[1] Even though Scripture does not recount Jesus’s meeting with his mother, there is no doubt she would have been one of the first to see him. Ignatius asks us to imagine him appearing to her first.
